Toronto: International Students Festival

5 Reasons to Attend the 3rd Annual International Students Festival

Is there a better way to kick off a new school year than with a party? On September 27th, 2014, the City of Toronto, with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority and 30 post-secondary schools across Ontario are proud to bring you the 3rd Annual International Students Festival! The Festival is open to both domestic and international students and promises an afternoon fun, freebies, and feeling great about supporting Ontario’s international student community. Some great reasons to attend the festival this year are:

1. Celebrating the Diversity of International Students

The International Students Festival is one huge thank-you to international students. There’s no better way to celebrate that than with a festival featuring live music, performances, and a diversity show that express our appreciation of our international students’ cultures and backgrounds. Don’t believe us? Here’s a teaser for the Lua Shayenne Company, one of many talented acts performing this year.

2. It’s Free!

No, seriously, it’s free. You get 6 hours of entertainment at David Pecaut Square and all you have to pay for is on-site food and drinks. Save some money on the last weekend of the month and come out to make some memories with your friends before the school year gets too busy.

3. Networking with College/University Officials and Civic and Corporate Leaders

The Festival will be host to information booths where students can learn about resources and activities available to them in Toronto. School representatives and corporate and civic leaders will also be in attendance at their own stations, where students can make professional connections and ask any burning questions they might have. Don’t pass up the opportunity to get ahead!

4. Prizes and Giveaways!

You could be walking away from the festival with more than just new friends and pictures to last until next year’s event. Between performances, awards, and diversity show performances, there will be two draws for prizes both big and small – you’ll definitely want to include your name in the draw on-site and ask festival staff what’s in store if you win.

5. Welcoming and Honouring New and Current International Students

Some students will be the lucky recipients of Excellence Awards for their contributions and achievements while studying in Ontario; we know you’ll want to be there to show your support! This is the perfect opportunity to meet international students and welcome them warmly to Ontario, enriching the experience of studying abroad and expanding your network of friends and professional contacts.

Remember, this year’s International Students Festival is on September 27th, 2014, at David Pecaut Square, Toronto (55 John Street, at King and John). Join us on our event page linked above to stay updated. Hope to see you there!
